Life cycle assessments of our hinged doors and roller doors
At Door System, we are aware of the responsibility we bear towards the climate as a result of the environmental impacts caused by our products and the production of our doors. We work purposefully to map our CO2 emissions and to document the company’s environmental impacts.
Most recently, we have had life cycle assessments (LCA reports) prepared for our hinged doors and our roller doors, see below.
At the same time, we are in the process of preparing a new climate account, which we expect to be completed in the spring of 2026.
The LCA reports and the climate account are prepared in cooperation with the consultancy firm Transition, who acts as our advisor on these matters.
Life cycle assessment of our hinged doors
The life cycle assessment (LCA report) estimates the climate impact from 1 m² of door without additional accessories for both single-leaf and double-leaf hinged doors. In general, the doors’ CO₂ footprint depends on the material quantity per m² as well as the materials used. The majority of the climate impact originates from the extraction and production of raw materials. Metals in particular, but also the use of PIR foam, result in relatively high emissions. Waste management of the doors at end of life is the second-largest contributor, although significantly smaller than the raw materials. However, for our cold room doors, the largest emissions occur during the use phase, as they contain heating elements and therefore consume electricity continuously.
The LCA report for our hinged doors follows many of the principles of DS/EN 15804+A2:2019 and can be used in connection with the LCA calculation of a building, as prescribed in the Danish Building Regulations. However, it is important to note that the LCA report is not third-party certified.

The life cycle assessment (LCA report) estimates the climate impact from 1 m² of a roller door without additional accessories. In general, the roller doors’ CO₂ footprint depends on the material quantity per m². The majority of the climate impact originates from the extraction and production of raw materials. Metals and electrical components in particular contribute significantly to the climate impact, but aluminium parts and the polyester curtain also account for a relatively large share. Waste management of the doors at end of life is the second-largest contributor, although significantly smaller than the raw materials. However, the largest emissions occur during the use phase, as all roller doors are automatic and therefore consume electricity continuously. Roller doors for freezer rooms generate the highest CO₂ emissions over their life cycle, as they also contain heating elements that consume electricity.
The LCA report for our roller doors follows many of the principles of DS/EN 15804+A2:2019 and can be used in connection with the LCA calculation of a building, as prescribed in the Danish Building Regulations. However, it is important to note that the LCA report is not third-party certified.

The LCA reports has been co-funded by the EU
We have a member of staff at Door System dedicated to identifying and documenting our environmental impact.
